About RL Music Publishing.
RL Music Publishing was formed by two unique individuals by the names of Ricky Eddison Defoe & Louise Savia Wright. Louise and Ricky met coincidently five years ago in Sony Music Publishing. Because of her shy nature her friends forced her into Sony Music Publishing where she handed in her lyrics to one of her future unknown business partners Ricky Eddison Defoe.
After they exchanged numbers their relationship developed, for they realised that they shared the same interests and ambitions in striving trough this complex industry, and that music should not be based on image but on content of both sound and especially talent.
Ricky and Louise who were twenty at the time decided at that young age to set up their own publishing company called RL Music Publishing. They met frequently at Sony Music Publishing, where they discovered and wrote their first business plan together. Also at this time they were arranging and song writing together and as time progressed they gradually built a home studio where they let their creativity flow.
Louise was very shy so staying in the background for her was always fine. Louise felt that there are so many talented singers out there who do not get the chance to be heard or even seen because of the fact that they might not be able to express themselves in the way that they would like to when it came to writing. Louise is always expressing herself through her songs and to hear someone else singing her songs, she says is such a beautiful touching sentiment.
Louise and Leon have been friends ever since they where 18 years old they have always been business minded so as they grew older they knew having a business together would be a brilliant achievement for both of them as well as Ricky already being in the team.
In 2009 Leon, Nicola, Anne – Marie & David (Leon becoming Head Of A&R, Nicola & Anne - Marie becoming our personal assistant’s and David becoming the Head of Administration) joining the team so RL Music Publishing was now complete. Leon and Nicola, Anne – Marie & David enjoyed the business side of the music industry.
They enjoyed meeting and greeting people as well as the creative side and their personalities certainly does reflect that. Leon always knew that “to achieve you must firstly believe” then finding the path that motivates you. Nicola as well as believing in RL knew that “Passion was the key to success” so with this in mind we know our team was strong
Leon, Ricky, David & Nicola’s eye for talent kept the business flowing with artists, producers and songwriter’s as well as keeping the contracts and accounts up to date with Louise and Ricky. It’s clear that Nicola and Anne - Marie (Personal Assistant’s) David (Head Of Administration) Leon (Head A&R) Ricky (Chairman) Louise (President) are a strong team and RL Music Publishing continues to grow with success.
All of our influences are considerably different Ricky was very confident he knew from the start that what he wanted would only be achieved with hard work and determination. Ricky’s unique treat in music is implemented in his producing. His influences include Outkast, Smokey Robinson, Prince, Quincy Jones, James Brown, Timbaland, Zapp, Bjork, Kate Bush, Otis Redding, Amel Larrieux, Cee-Lo, Pharrell Williams, and many more. Ricky shows his funk side in his music as well as his Pop and Modal Soul side.
Louise was simple her influence said it all through her music. Diane Warren, John Lennon, Evanescence, Eurhythmics, Carpenters, Led Zeppelin, Guns & Roses, Aerosmith, Babyface, Nina Simone, Yolanda Adam, Marvin Sapp, Anita Baker and Ray Charles are just a few.
She also wrote her first song at the age of fourteen not thinking that she would be where she is today, being the age she is and having over 200 songs. Songwriting became another one of her hidden talents. Being able to express herself through her writing became a skill which made people understand her when she was unable to enlighten people on how she felt writing made everything that much simpler.
Now she has realized that songwriting is more important to her then having fame. So becoming a professional songwriter was always her real dream but she hid this side of her talent away. Only as she grew older and started to realize who she was as a person and learn more through experience she could accept exactly what she Wanted to become.
Working in another Music Publishing Company back in her early days has been such an eye opener for her. Gaining knowledge from the Chairman and the Managing Director has made her understand which direction she wanted to follow. “The Greatest Success Quality Known Is The Willingness To Become”
Whilst working in another Music Publishing company in her early days. She had the chance to meet and become friends with established professional songwriters who have written for artists such as; Tina Turner, Simon Webbe, Heather Small, Cliff Richard, Bryan Adams, Terri Walker, Lemar, Carl Thomas, Dave Hollister, Yolanda Adams, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Beverley Knight, The Eagles, Mariah Carey, Maxi Priest, Peter Hunnigale, Bjork and many more.
She is now fulfilling her dream as a successful professional songwriter. Louise recently entered the international library of poetry composition and was nominated into the finals becoming poet of 2007. In celebration of her poem they have also published her poem on its own page in what promises to be one of the most highly regarded collections of poetry they have ever published. She then went on to win the outstanding achievement award in poetry in 2007. She has now been nominated to the finals for poet of the year 2008 winning her second award two years in a row.
At this present time they are producing/songwriting for up and coming and established artists. RL Music Publishing Team are also scouting for unique talented individuals, groups and musicians to produce and song write for as well as signing, songwriters, bands, Rappers and composers.

What Is Music Publishing Company?
On many occasions we would get asked the fundamental question. “What is a Music Publishing Company and what does it do?” Our answer is simple. We work with songwriters, composers and producers, who compose music and/or write lyrics, just as a book publisher would work with an author.
In brief words, the music publisher operates as a manager, a lawyer, an agent, and a business advisor to the songwriter. The publisher has a wide range of responsibilities that he or she takes aboard when he/she agrees to be a publisher.
Promotion wise, the publisher will typically promote your songs for films and television, singles & albums, along with commercials. In the areas of administration and protection, he/she is the person in charge of policing for infringements, and ensuring that the administration of musical compositions has be properly adhered to and executed.
